All for volunteerism. In any group or organization, success is not measured by the number of its members, but with its contribution to the community.

VOTY-NCJP, other youth groups to join 2004 Global Youth Service Day (GYSD). Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) 2004 mobilizes youth in over 150 countries to rebuild communities, breakdown ethnic barriers and promote peace through community services.

The Survival of the Praying Mantis. A couple of days ago, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines once again produced a mixture of baked and not-so-baked graduates. And what made the rites special was the fact that it was a centennial graduation exercise. Correct me if I am wrong [though I know I am exactly correct], this doesn't mean any difference if the graduates themselves didn't realize in the first place that from then on, it is a personal battle that lies ahead no more madams and sirs and no more bros and pares.

The man behind the voice. Even ordinary people can do extraordinary things, like organizing a group to involve the youth in cause-oriented programs for the country.

I am a Responsible Voter. Call it a fortune for me or not that I was born in May, I dont really care much. Anyway, all the electorate does during this season is an exercise of the right to voteoften not the responsibility to do so. Perhaps this is why we are here todayeconomic instability, political chaos, graft in the government, crime in the streets, neglect of education, insufficient health care, peace and order, dissidence and banditry and other difficulties. And inking the ballots for our bets to win come May 2004 national elections may again beget the brand of future that we will have. In my hands are choices between two futures: a future moving backward and a future moving forward.

ICT shall build the Filipino Nation, create an imagined community. The strength of any nation lies on the foundation of its peoples understanding and cooperation. Without a legitimate unity and sense of a imagined community (or state of belongingness to a nation), any given race will give up its ghost and perish.

Going for the incumbent. Being in the engineering field has something to do with politics. Believe me, I got proof of this. When we graduate, expect the worst, not the best pasture, on our workplace. In any meadow of engineering just any other discipline as well, there is politics.

Hasta La Proxima Vez. As I look back at the footprints I had for the past two-year leadership, I see my importance while serving my purpose more than the call of duty. I acted on the basis of volunteerism without fear and reservation.

Heartfelt Gratitude. When I see kids, I sometimes think and remember about my own childhood. Not that I am old, I am just a college student breaking free from childhood, but I ended up comparing my experiences with them just like my parents do.

Call it political gimmick but for the officials and employees of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Youth Affairs (OPAYA), the Student Assistance Fund for Education for a Strong Republic (SAFE 4 SR) is a legitimate government project that needs not to be taken aback by political colors. Presidential Assistant Dennis Cunanan, the Office head outs it this way: Trabaho Lang.

Manila. Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, the Spanish conqueror of the Philippines, founded Manila as a fortified colony in 1571, after defeating the forces of the Muslim ruler Rajah Soliman. In 1601 a seminary for nobles, the first educational institution in the country, was established at Manila by the Jesuits.

Speaking about gold, Marvin (or Marvs for his close friends), sees his everyday life as more than gold. It is a blessing with simple and neat get up and timid smiles all the time. Almost everything is product of his come-what-may  tried and tested principle (which does not mean he is happy-go-lucky guy). For him, expecting much is senseless. You will just find yourself disappointed when you failed on something. The simpler the better, he stressed.

THE NETWORK OF CAMPUS JOURNALISTS of the PHILIPPINES Media Releases

Wrong sense of idealism. It is true that we Filipinos are impatient. That we are the most impatient people in Asia, if not in the world. http://www.manilatimes.net/national/2004/apr/24/yehey/life/20040424lif4.html

Tik Tak VOTE! Amidst the conundrum, the emotional stirrings and the nonstop bickering of politicians due to the upcoming elections, one sector is left pondering in the middle of the youth. Unlike before, when the issue is whether 'to vote or not to vote,' nowadays, the dilemma who to vote for in the upcoming national polls is one of the biggest challenges they are facing. http://www.mb.com.ph/issues/2004/05/07/SCAU200405078969.html
